Because Sixteen Deserves to Be Remembered
There’s just something about photographing the same teen more than once—especially when I’ve seen how much she’s grown in just a couple of years. I first photographed Kate when she was 14, and even back then, she had style and personality for days. Now she’s sixteen, and wow… that confidence? Next level.
When her mom reached out again, I was so excited. Her family already had one of my designer image boxes from Kate’s first session and wanted to add some updated 5×7 prints for her Sweet 16. These are the kinds of sessions that turn into keepsakes you’ll actually look at again—and not just once a year when you clean out your camera roll. These are the ones that stick.

Sweet 16 Style, with a Side of Sass
She showed up in a floral sundress that was totally her—simple, cute, and perfect for a warm afternoon out in the desert sunshine. No fuss, no big accessories—just her usual necklace and that easygoing smile she always brings with her.
And the cake? Oh, she was ready. The second it came out, she didn’t wait—she went right in for that first bite like a total pro. I mean… who says cake smashes are just for toddlers? This right here is why I love teen photo sessions. They’re fun, silly, and they give teens a chance to let loose and just be themselves!

Outdoor Birthday Photos? Yes, Please!
We took full advantage of Arizona’s famous golden light, heading outdoors for some natural portraits that show off Kate’s glowing smile. She was totally at ease in front of the camera—something that happens naturally when clients have had a previous session and already know how much fun it can be.
This kind of confidence is exactly what I want for all my teens. No stiff poses, no awkwardness. Just real smiles, natural movement, and plenty of time to relax, laugh, and enjoy being in the moment.

Glitter Wishes & Birthday Magic
We wanted a glitter moment—but nobody wanted to deal with the mess (because let’s be honest, real glitter sticks around forever). So we skipped the cleanup and added the sparkle later. A little digital magic? Yes, please.
This final shot with Kate making a wish turned out to be one of their favorites! We didn’t use actual confetti, but the final shot still nailed the vibe—fun, light, and just the right amount of sparkle (without the cleanup). Win-win!

From confetti to cake to glam outfits, there are so many fun ways to celebrate turning 16—and I’ll help you make your shoot as creative and personalized as possible. Whether you want glam, casual, urban, desert, or all of the above… I got you!
Looking for a Sweet 16 Photographer in Mesa, AZ?
Sweet 16 sessions aren’t just about cute photos (although yes, we’ll get plenty of those). They’re about celebrating your kid exactly as they are right now—before graduation, before senior year, before everything starts to feel like a blur.
You don’t need a big party or a big reason. If your teen is turning 16 (or 13 or 17 or just having a moment), we can make it fun, relaxed, and all about them. No stiff poses. No stress. Just a session that lets them be silly, confident, serious, sparkly—whatever feels right.

It’s always so fun working with Kate and her family—especially since I’ve been photographing her since she was 14! Seeing families come back year after year is one of the best parts of what I do… and I’ll be sharing her senior portraits soon too (can’t wait!)
