Daisies, Sunglasses, And The Sunshine All in One Session

Fun was absolutely the order of the day with Savannah! I honestly think my face was sore the next day from laughing so much with her! Endless laughs aside, she had such fun ideas for what she wanted her senior pictures to feel like, and I loved that her wardrobe choices matched her bright, vibrant personality perfectly.

Senior Pictures Full Of Color And Personality

Savannah’s session was a never-ending mix of cute outfits, playful poses, fun accessories, and the best expressions. Nothing felt stiff or boring, which is exactly how senior pictures should be.

Between the daisies, sunglasses, hats, bright colors, and sunshine-filled locations, her senior portraits had the happiest vibe. It all felt cheerful, relaxed, and full of personality, which made her gallery so much fun from start to finish.

And honestly? She was clearly the right girl for the job. Brimming with energy, positivity, and all things fun, Savannah knew exactly how to bring her personality into every part of her session. The camera couldn’t get enough of her!

A Sunny Shoot With A  Sunnier Attitude

If you’d like to know a little more about this adorable ray of sunshine, Savannah loves color, especially red and pink, and she can’t get enough of dancing. Chocolate is her not-so-guilty guilty pleasure, and she’s happiest when she’s shopping, watching movies, or spending time with family.

And wouldn’t you know it? The sun showed up for the whole session while Savannah was doing some shining of her own.

Can we also talk about this outfit for a second? Her daisy top matched perfectly with the daisy sunglasses and straw hat from the Style Closet. Add the playful earrings, and it was basically the perfect sunny senior picture outfit. You could say we had a little too much fun watching it all come together, but honestly, that’s what senior pictures are supposed to be!

The Outfit Talks

Of course, senior pictures are also about trying new things, playing with outfits, and showing as much of your personality as possible.

This flowery blue dress gave Savannah the prettiest soft, carefree look. It moved beautifully, photographed like a dream, and felt completely different from her bright daisy outfit. And yes, you guessed it, this darling dress is from the Style Closet!

One of my favorite things about the Style Closet is how it gives seniors more variety without having to buy a closet full of new clothes. Sometimes one extra dress, hat, pair of sunglasses, or statement piece is all it takes to make your gallery feel completely different.

Coming as a surprise to no one, Savannah’s delightful posing even got her published in Senior Year Magazine! I mean, when you’re upside-down in an orange lawn chair, smiling, and wearing daisy sunglasses, who is going to stop you?

Savannah also wore this flowery peach dress from the Style Closet, and it fit perfectly with the little “flower power” theme her session took on over time. Soft, pretty, cheerful, and still totally Savannah.

Mastering The Serious Face

Now, if there’s one part of a senior session that seems to stump some teenagers, and honestly a few adults too, it’s the serious face.

It makes sense! When you’re laughing, having fun, and feeling excited, suddenly not smiling feels impossible. But Savannah nailed it.

My favorite trick is simple: close your eyes, take a deep breath, open your eyes, and look right into the camera. That’s it. It gives you a second to reset, relax your face, and create that more serious, editorial look without feeling awkward.

And Savannah? She couldn’t have done it better. Still all business, but absolutely beautiful.

Like a flower, it seemed like Savannah had bloomed into her true self as she headed off to take on the big grown-up world. I felt truly honored to capture this sweet season of her life and create images she’ll hopefully have as keepsakes for years to come.

Beautiful Photos, But What’s Next?

My clients don’t just want a stellar senior portrait experience. They also want a beautiful way to display their favorite photos when the session is over.

For years, I’ve heard that “kids only want digital images.” Wrong again!

Nearly every senior I photograph chooses some kind of keepsake. Some choose a custom-designed metal print with a favorite quote, while others prefer a keepsake book. But one of the all-time favorites is a storyboard.

It’s a classic for a reason. A storyboard lets you choose several favorite images and turn them into one beautiful piece of artwork for your room. That’s exactly what we did for Savannah!

And of course, Mom wanted her own storyboard too, so we designed two. Everybody wins!

Posing Made Simple

If you’re now impressed with Savannah’s posing skills like I was, don’t worry. You do not have to show up knowing what to do in front of the camera. That’s my job!

But if you want to practice a little before your session, here are a few easy posing ideas to keep in mind:

• Start with sitting poses before moving into standing poses if you’re not quite ready yet.
• If posing is not your thing, keep moving! Movement almost always looks more natural than standing still and wondering what to do with your hands.
• You can never go wrong with the classic over-the-shoulder look.
• Leaning may feel cheesy, but it never looks cheesy.
• If you feel like you’re overdoing it, you probably aren’t. Tiny movements barely show up on camera, so don’t be afraid to exaggerate a little.
• Use pockets, tassels, sunglasses, hats, flowers, or anything else nearby if you’re not sure what to do with your hands. Most of us are not walking around naturally knowing where our arms should go, so props and accessories are your friends!

And last but not least, if you start getting nervous, pause and breathe. Your senior session is not a race. It’s always quality over quantity, and I’ll guide you the whole time so we get images that feel like you.

The Best Compliment

Savannah is absolutely amazing, but one of the best compliments I can receive is when families come back year after year with their teens, high school seniors, and even college grads.

There really is no better compliment!
