Vintage Record Shop Adventure

Not every high school senior is excited about senior pictures, and that includes some girls too. Kiana had a less-than-thrilling experience for her Sweet 16 photo shoot with another photographer, so she was hesitant. However, once we discussed ideas and how much fun we’d have, she was 100% ready! Hiring a professional photographer absolutely makes a difference!

Fun Location for Senior Pictures

Downtown Gilbert, with it’s small town feel, is a perfect place for senior pictures. Its historic architecture, trendy boutiques, and array of textures and colors suited Kiana’s easy-going personality. As we strolled down the tree-lined streets, where Kiana wore her cap & gown for the first time, you could feel the sense of excitement and anticipation!

The perfect example of poise and beauty, Kiana was sure to dress from head-to-toe for each look. Things that will take your photos from so-so to spectacular:

• Appropriate undergarments
• Simple jewelry
• Stylish footwear
• Clothing that fits properly
• Pressed clothing with no wrinkles

Kiana was certain to browse the What to Wear guides so she was prepared and ready for a fun afternoon in front of the camera, and it shows in every image!

Downtown Gilbert provided the perfect canvas for capturing Kiana’s personality as she’s ready to take on the world. Between the brick backdrops, quaint restaurants, and the colorful surroundings, we had plenty of variety to choose from. And the chunky shoes? Love them!!

Another quick outfit change allowed Kiana to show off her casual side with her favorite denim jacket. With so many different backdrops, it was easy to find the perfect urban setting to match her outfits.

The owners of Rock This Town Records in Gilbert are passionate music enthusiasts and enjoy sharing their knowledge of all the vintage vinyl with the local community.

When Kiana mentioned her vinyl collection, I knew this quaint vintage record shop would be a great location for senior pictures. With rows of both new and vintage vinyl, Kiana eagerly flipped through the records, and she even bought a new band t-shirt during her session. Her excitement for music was apparent as she discussed her favorite genres, artists, and the stories behind some of her favorite albums.

Capturing the Adventure

This record store is more than just vinyl though, the ambiance is just magical!! Everything from the curtains and rugs to rows of albums make it the perfect spot for Kiana as her casual expressions came together to create a visual narrative that celebrated her love for music. This stunning image was even selected for publication by Senior Year Magazine!

Best Way to Print Senior Pictures

As the sun began to set and her time in front of the camera was winding down, we grabbed a few last shots of Kianna in floral top. Not sure what to do with your hands? Twirl your hair, play with your necklace, pretend to fix a button or tie, or pop a hand in your pocket!

I’m so glad we stopped at the last moment to catch this photo. It ended up being one of their favorites and was perfect for her Heirloom Album, which we customized with her name and graduation year.

Kiana, as you continue to grow and learn in this next chapter of your life, I hope the memories of this day remind you that you that story truly one of a kind.
