I believe in helping every senior recognize how amazing they really are. Mom sees it. I see it. Now it is time for THEM to see it!
Creating beautiful images isn’t a hobby for me. It’s a career. I’m low volume by design, so my clients will never feel like they’re part of an assembly line. I believe that every senior I photograph should have a unique, individualized experience where they’ll feel special at every turn.
I believe that teens and families deserve more than just a USB of files to throw in a drawer. By offering deluxe ordering and design services, I promise you’ll have heirloom-quality keepsakes you’ll be proud to share. I’ve developed an easy system to help you choose your favorite photos. Then we’ll work together to design your products so you’ll know exactly what you’re getting before your ordering session is over!
I used to love to scrapbook. I got a “good” camera so I’d have better pictures to scrapbook. Our daughter was a gymnast and as you know, you can’t use a flash inside a gym. So if I wanted to scrapbook her meets I had to learn how to work the “good” camera. FYI, my first DSLR was a Canon XTi. Now I primarily use a Canon R5! Favorite lens? Well, my 70-200 2.8 is my go-to, but I love my 24 1.4 and 85 1.4 too. It just depends on my mood!
I graduated from ASU with a B.S.E in mechanical engineering. Photography is the same thing, right? Actually, I never had much interest in photography until I had kids, and the more I learned, the more I realized how much I still needed to learn. Photography allows me to grow at my own pace and offers me the never-ending cycle of learning and growing. Apparently God knew photographing seniors was a much better fit for my personality than working in the semiconductor industry!
I’m color-deficient, yep, one of the .5% of women that fall into that category. So here I am, a color-deficient photographer with an engineering degree. Do you hear God laughing? I sure do! And yet here I am, thriving after 14 years in business, only by the grace of God. This year I attended a Stories With Light seminar and now I’m even using colored gels <gasp> for some of my portrait sessions!
I’ve been married to my husband Lance for 24 years now, and we have two kids. Trevor is 22, attending ASU, and studying mechanical engineering. Alex is 20 and currently living in Albuquerque. She retired from the the UNM dive team at the end of 2022 and was accepted into nursing school. Both of them should be graduating in 2024 so it’s gonna be a busy year for us with lots of changes!
Sophie is the tan one, and she's a Shorkie. Sophie is 13 but promised she'd live to be at least 18, so we're working on that. She's super soft and has plenty of pillows around the house. When you can't find her, she's probably curled up snoozing somewhere. Or she's outside getting into things and ignoring me when I call her to come in. But she'll hear a popcorn bag open from a mile away!
The black & white cutie is Roxie (aka Squish) and she's a wild little Shih-poo with way too many toys and a tongue that's always hanging out! She's the only dog we've ever had that actually comes when she's called. She doesn't always respond to food, but squeak a toy and she'll come running every time.
I’m a huge Disney fan. Lance and I went to Disneyland the first time together in 1998, married in 1999, and spent part of our honeymoon at Walt Disney World in Florida. And it never stopped! Both of our kids (now 20 & 22) are fans of all things Disney too! Trevor’s favorite character is Winnie the Pooh and Alex’s favorite character is Dory.
With the kids getting older, working and going to school this summer, Lance and I went to Disneyland by ourselves, no kids! It was definitely different but lots of fun!
